BiG! World – Sunday 10.29.06

Setlist:
Your Grace is Enough – Chris Tomlin
O Praise Him – David Crowder Band
Where The Streets Have No Name – U2

Go glocal!  At the Orchard we are committed to making our community more AWARE of social issues, concerns, hurts and needs.  As we become more aware of the things going on in our world, the more our heart will become AGITATED.  This agitation in our heart will bring us to ACTION and this is where lives are changed – where The Orchard can make a huge impact in this world.

Meaning of Ministry by orchardblog

MINISTRY IS…giving when you feel like keeping,
praying for others when you need to be prayed for,
feeding others when your own soul is hungry,
living truth before people even when you can’t see results,
hurting with other people even when your own hurt can’t be spoken,
keeping your word even when it is not convenient,
it is being faithful when your flesh wants to run away.

Thanks for your ministry to our church and community!

BiG! Mission – Sunday 10.22.06

Setlist:
Majestic – Lincoln Brewster
Not To Us – Chris Tomlin
Everyday – Lincoln Brewster
If Everyone Cared – Nickelback*****(Please use discretion when previewing or purchasing other songs by this artist as other songs on this album may contain inappropriate lyrical content.)

What a great day!  The BiG! idea to remember: “Acknowledging the mission is not the same as engaging in the mission.”  Today we handed out cards to encourage everyone to engage in the mission by simply writing down the names of three people who they could invite to be a part of The Orchard.  Bring your card back with you next week.  Are you engaging in the mission?

“And on those evenings when the mood is right and the family lingers, caught up in an idea or an argument explored in a shared safe place where no one is stupid or shy or ashamed, you get a glimpse of the power of this habit and why social scientists say such COMMUNICATION ACTS AS A KIND OF VACCINE, PROTECTING KIDS FROM ALL MANNER OF HARM! ” (–quote by Nancy Gibbs in Time magazine, discussing family meal time)

Talk to your kids, LISTEN to your kids! Protect them by keeping communication lines OPEN!

This past weekend I had the exciting privilege of introducing the newest addition to The Orchard’s team…………

Mike Jones!

Mike has joined our staff as our Creative Arts Director, where he will be overseeing all aspects of music, production, media, etc…  for all of our weekend and First Wednesday gatherings.

There’s a pretty cool story behind how all this happened that I’ll share sometime, but let me just say – we are THRILLED to have Mike and his wife, Kristen as a part of the Orchard community!

Mike brings great leadership, lots of talent, but most of all – tons of passion for helping create GREAT environments for people to step forward in their journey of following Jesus.

Oh yeah, and he has a blog!

Welcome Mike!
