Becoming: to grow to be; to turn into.
This series has been amazing. We always plan each series and hoping and believing it will be better than the one before and so we thought this one too would be better than the previous. For me personally it has gone beyond what we ever thought it would be.
So what’s your story? How has this series impacted you? How have you seen God move through these spiritual practices in your life? Email us your story to info@orchardvalleyonline.com.

Last weekend we continued our series BECOMING talking about the spiritual practice of fixed hour prayer. I know many of you have been a part of that this week and we are interested in hearing how this prayer rhythm has affected your week.
We also had Taylor Phelan out to The Orchard to lead us during some of our worship time. He did an excellent job and has a great voice, wouldn’t you agree?!

The music setlist is back! Every week we have people ask us about the music we play here at the Orchard and how they can get a copy of it. While we may perform these ‘Orchard style’, you will find links to purchase almost all of the songs we use from iTunes.
This last weekend, was a tough one for me and some of the staff – I lost a very close friend. While we grieved and celebrated his life, we also continued to do what Todd did… lead other’s in a growing relationship with Jesus.
I hope this second week in our series BECOMING was practical for you. Finding opportunities to be quiet, to be still and listen, can be difficult. We talked about silent meditation and meditating on scripture. You can download the message here.

Belief – John Mayer (instrumental)

This weekend we concluded our series Smudged. Chris Bell brought us a great teaching on spirituality vs. religion. We’re on a spiritual journey that is about a way of life.
Turn from believing rightly to living rightly.
Turn from following rules to building relationships.
Turn from the destination to the journey.
Turn from religious rituals to spiritual practices.
We ended the weekend by taking communion together – a spiritual practice to remember what a friend did for us. It’s all about cleaning the lenses of our life so that we can see things how they really are – unsmudged.

Our Smudged series continued as we talked about our children. Scott talked about how we can build scaffolding in our kids lives so that their lives and leadership would exceed our own. Very powerful and healing message in looking at how we see our parents and our children with an unsmudged perspective. We concluded each service with an opportunity for parents to dedicate their kids to God – asking God and our church community to help them build scaffolding in their kids’ lives.

Easter At The Orchard… it’s an experience! We had some phenomenal services Easter weekend hosted by a ton of volunteers who spent hours and hours working to create great environments.
Our Easter Egg Drop via helicopter was huge this year. The weather cleared up and it turned out to be a great event. LOTS of people for that. We estimate around 3000 kids and parents gathering 20,000 eggs. Our teams planned well and though we still had some unforeseen things happen, they were handled well and quickly. Great job team!
While we had been worried about the weather OUTSIDE, we actually made it rain INSIDE over our stage! Worked out well as a creative piece with the message and the music. A great beginning to our series Smudged.
