Here’s the second video from the series of four we showed on Christmas Eve. This one tells just a small portion of Reuben’s story. Reuben is one of our guitarists at the Orchard and he usually has a lot of energy on the stage!
If you haven’t met Reuben, let me tell you – he’s a great guy! God has done some amazing things in his life and continues to do so.

We are spirit and as human beings we are unique in this aspect. No other thing that God created is both physical and spiritual. But being spirit changes how we see and experience things. It also opens our eyes to realize that there is a separation between us and God because of this thing called sin.
There is a solution to this problem. God sent Jesus to show us a better way and to introduce change. Scott used a great example – adoption. It illustrates the moment of change and begins the journey of change.
The journey of following Jesus begins by: rethinking, believing, receiving, going public, and practicing. A great message with a lot to check out. You’ll definitely want to check out the podcast.

Here’s the music setlist from this weekend (with links to iTunes to purchase the original recordings):
- The Time Has Come – Hillsong United
- Made To Worship – Chris Tomlin
- This Is Not The End – The Bravery *****
I am spirit. You are spirit. Every human being is spirit. Whether we want to believe it or not, we are all spiritual beings. Having been made in the image of the Creator, who is spirit, we are different from everything else God created. Everything else he made was either physical or spiritual, but God made man both physical and spiritual.
Are your eyes open to those things that are spirit? If we know that God has formed us as both physical and spiritual creatures, does it change your perspective on how you see things around you? Does it change how you view yourself – what you say, how you act, how you treat yourself? Does it change the way you view other human beings? What about the rest of creation? Does it change how you view, interact, and live with God?

This month in Wahabu Land, we are bringing “ORDER TO THE COURT” as we study the virtue of ORDERLINESS- arranging things to make your day easier.
Orderliness is probably not high on the list of importance for most children. It’s probably even harder for them to grasp the idea that it could possibly be important to God. After all, it seems He might ignore something as mundane as orderliness and focus solely on more “spiritual” things, like love and kindness. This month our goal is to bust that myth and make the point that God IS concerned with orderliness.
God is a God of order, not chaos. He’s such an advocate of orderliness that He created ORDER from CHAOS. Because we’re made in His image, we, too, function most effectively in orderly environments. So placing importance on orderliness is for our benefit. We’re able to function at our highest level and change the world around us. Even better, we’re able to give praise to God, the Creator, for the “wildly wonderful world” (Psalm 104:24, MSG) that He crafted from “a soup of nothingness” (Genesis 1:1, MSG).
Our memory verse this month comes from Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIrV): “So be very careful how you live. Do not live like people who aren’t wise. Live like people who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity.”

Take a step in 2008. Leave the boat. Listen for the voice of truth. Sometimes, even amidst the storm, God calls to us take a risk. To get out of our comfort zone and experience Him in a whole new way.

We started a new series this last weekend called PERFECT STORMS. If you are not going through a storm, recently been through one then be prepared – there may be one right around the corner. If we commit ourselves to trust God through the storm, realize we aren’t the only ones in the boat, and keep our eyes open we’ll come out stronger on the other side.
Here’s the music setlist (with links to iTunes to purchase the original recordings):
- Everyday – Lincoln Brewster
- O Praise Him – David Crowder Band
- You Are The One – Lincoln Brewster
- Trust In You – Jeremy Camp
Join us this weekend (1/5 and 1/6) for the conclusion of this two part series.

As most of you know, this Christmas we challenged our church community to make relational gift giving a priority with our families and loved ones. The idea behind this was to focus on giving gifts that will last far beyond just this season.
We then asked people to take whatever money they saved by giving relationally and to give it on Christmas Eve so that we could redistribute it to those in need. Our plan was to split it right down the middle and give half to a clean water project in Africa and then give the other half to a local organization in Aurora who provides food and other essential items to those in need.
Well, let me tell you… I am BLOWN AWAY by the response! Get this…
$22,700.00 was given towards Advent Conspiracy!
I can’t even begin to tell you HOW HUGE this is! What better way to celebrate the birth of Jesus then by showing His love to those in need?!
I’ll tell you… I am SO PROUD of The Orchard Community. I love how missionally you all think and live!
I cannot WAIT to see what what’s ahead in 2008!
